Secret Messages

In this activity, we are going to explore which types of wax makes the best secret messages.

Materials:

  • Secret Messages Worksheet

  • White Crayola Crayon

  • White Bees Wax Crayon

  • Watercolor paint

  • Cup of water

  • Paint brush

Directions:

  1. In the designated boxes, write a secret message to be decoded

  2. Ask the child if they can read what you wrote

  3. Dip your paintbrush in water, and then the watercolor paint

  4. Brush the watercolor paint over the wax to reveal the secret message

  5. Compare how easy it was to read each message

  6. Allow the child to write their own messages and decode
