Cultivating Creativity

Creativity and flexible thinking is a critical scientific tool. In a 2018 paper in International Society of the Learning Sciences, the ability to think outside the box is linked to the ability to problem-solve effectively, construct new hypotheses, and explore real-world phenomena.

  1. Complex Models Children with flexible minds are able to develop more complex models to explain real-world observations. These models allow children to construct deeper connections and build a better understanding of the natural world.

  2. Sophisticated ideas Not only are children with creative minds better at contracting complex working-models, they are additionally able to generate more sophisticated observations and hypothesis compared to non-flexible thinking peers.
